History
BREaD launched in 1998 after a year of planning and help from local health professionals, the Eating Disorders Association, Anorexia & Bulimia care, and many others.. A small number of volunteers worked together and the first support group meeting, for people, (both male & female), over the age of sixteen was held on a Wednesday lunch time in January at the Methodist Centre Bromsgrove.
We gradually developed additional community support with the aid of grants from the Bromsgrove District Council, the Lottery Fund, MIND Millennium Fund and others. More recently a grant from The Tudor Trust has enabled us to expand stress and relaxation sessions and develop additional support options for younger people by forging links with other local agencies and charities, providing training and increasing support group work.
The long term vision is for a sustainable, accessible community service that offers a variety of support, information and a safe, approachable place to contact for practical assistance. Although we do ask for realistic donations where possible we do not charge a fee for services provided..
